What cut flowers will grow in shade?
Spring-blooming bulbs also perform beautifully in partial shade. Planting a mix of early, mid and late season bulbs, will give you a jump on the cut flower season and two months of colorful, carefree blooms. Good choices include tulips, daffodils, muscari, allium, fritillaria and leucojum. Some of the best include geranium rozanne, famous for its incredibly long flowering season, and salvia caradonna, which blooms early and often. Gaura whirling butterflies, verbena bonariensis, scabiosa butterfly blue and nepeta six hills giant also flower for much of the summer.
