What can be planted in October in NC?
Trees and shrubs: The best time to plant deciduous trees and shrubs in the fall is after the heat of summer diminishes, but before the ground has frozen. Mid-October through mid-November is a good planting guide in our area, although trees can be planted earlier in the fall as well. The best time to consider planting a fall crop, generally speaking, is in August or early September, while vegetables with particularly short growing cycles (turnips and leafy greens, for instance) can be planted far into September.
Is mid-October too late to plant?
