Zone 5 running is a very hard effort and comes with increased injury risk, and doing too much exercise in Zone 5 can be very taxing on the body. Make sure you have the right balance with mostly Zone 2 running plus Zone 3 and Zone 4, and always have a really good warm up before a Zone 5 workout. Unlike Zone 2 training, too much of Zone 5 can have us backsliding in our training. If you “feel the burn” too much, you are likely to burn yourself out.
