Is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden good for blossoms?
I’d highly recommend seeing the cherry blossoms here, they are so beautiful! Jon and I visited last summer to see the rose garden, and that was gorgeous too. No matter the season, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is the perfect place to spend an afternoon! It’s a night-time experience like no other—an illuminated trail of dazzling light installations, music, and immersive moments set against the stunning backdrop of the Gardens.This was my second year visiting Lightscape San Diego and it was brilliant and illuminating. When to see cherry blossoms in Brooklyn Botanic Garden?
This garden was designed to highlight the changing seasons, and it’s one of the best places to see ornamental cherries in their full splendor. They bloom throughout April and often into early May, with each cultivar taking a week or two to progress through its bloom cycle. Cherry blossoms typically last for 10 to 14 days. Certain species may last longer than 14 days, but Yoshino cherries, the ones that are widely spread across Japan, last only for about 14 days.Peak Bloom & Blooming Period The peak bloom date is defined as the day when 70% of the Yoshino Cherry (Prunus x yedoensis) blossoms are open. Peak bloom varies annually depending on weather conditions. The most likely time to reach peak bloom is between the last week of March and the first week of April.Just remember that forecasting peak bloom is almost impossible more than 10 days in advance, according to NPS. The best viewing of the cherry blossom trees typically lasts four to seven days after peak bloom begins, but the blossoms can last for up to two weeks under ideal conditions.
How much time to spend at Botanic Gardens?
Take a few hours and wander around enjoying the peace and beauty and get a coffee and pastry in the cafe. Beautiful! I visited at the end of March. This is surprisingly large for being so close to downtown. The train show is amazing and the grounds are decorated. The Glo area with ice carvings, music and lighted decorations is worth the visit.
What time does the light show start at the Botanical gardens?
You can wander around and just take it all in for free. The light and music show happens twice every evening – 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM. It lasts about 10-15 minutes and it’s absolutely worth planning around. Enjoy Lightscape at your own pace. We recommend 1.
