Does putting sugar in water help plants?
Sugar won’t benefit plants in any way (they produce their own, they can’t take up what’s in the soil) but is a sure way to grow harmful fungi, mold, bacteria and even small arthropods. Brown sugar + baking soda is not a fertilizer. Sugar is glucose, and plants don’t “feed” on it the way we do. Most plants actually prefer a slightly acidic growing medium—not something basic. These so-called “hacks” waste your time, risk unaliving your plant babies, and exist mainly to give these liars notoriety.
