What plant takes 10 years to bloom?
It takes seven to ten years for a single corpse flower to gather enough energy to begin its bloom cycle. The Garden began collecting titan arums in 2003, as part of a worldwide conservation effort to preserve the species. In cultivation, the titan arum generally requires five to ten years of vegetative growth before blooming for the first time. After a plant’s initial blooming, there can be considerable variation in its blooming frequency.
